This orientalist portrait captures the artist's Moroccan friend's father in a meditative gaze. The Naples Yellow background and rich Raw Umber and Burnt Sienna tones showcase the artist's mastery of brushwork, inspired by Jean Léon Gérôme and John Singer Sargent. The inclusion of the Ya Sin Surah from the Quran is a heartfelt homage. The piece reflects the artist's personal journey of confronting past traumas and memories, using deliberate brushstrokes to navigate and reconcile his subconscious.
